Are you traveling to Los Angeles for the first time? Be prepared to stuff yourself with some great food! This blog is not a definitive list of LA’s best eateries, but it’s where we’d go if we were in your shoes. You’ve got a weekend ahead of you and loads of options to choose from. Other than the two work meetings you may have, we know that the main business to take care of is eating the best food. Let this blog be your guide to eating in LA.
Eatery # 1: Pho 70
Type of Food: Vietnamese
You’ll find numerous pho places throughout LA, but if you’re here for the weekend, you don’t want any pho. You want great pho from Pho 79! Located in Little Saigon in Westminster, Pho 79’s soup is what you’ll wake up thinking about. The noodle broth has a hearty cinnamony flavor, and you can add your preferred protein to make it a meal. It’s a cash-only restaurant, so don’t forget to grab some cash on the way.
Eatery # 2: Gjusta
Type of Food: American
No neighborhood in LA exudes the bohemian spirit like Venice. The bustling energy of Gjusta is a must-visit when you’re in town. The deli is a few blocks away from the beach and offers the best sandwiches. You’ll have to wait an eternity for your turn and wait another eternity to get your food. But when you’re eating the cured fish and tomato sandwich, you’ll forget about the time you spent waiting for it!
Eatery # 3: Union
Type of Food: Italian
Despite the placid surroundings of the suburbs of Pasadena, Union is a place that doesn’t match the town’s vibe. The place has a perfect balance of intimate and lively, and it offers a seasonal Californian interpretation of the North Italian Cuisine. If you’re short on time, don’t browse through the menu; order torchetti with pork ragu and squid ink lumachel. In the non-pasta menu, go for the decadent wild mushroom polenta. If you’re feeling extra splurgy, go for the porchetta, it won’t disappoint you!
